Design culture always eyeing tomorrow’s world

This museum was established by the Japan Designers Association in the lower level BF1 of The Kyoto City Industrial Exhibition Hall, Miyako Messe. The aim of the museum is to stimulate the artistic intention of design and provide in-depth educational insights into the methods of design.
Thus, imbued with the aim of aiding development of the Japanese design culture, the museum functions to collect, store and display materials showing the transitions of attractive living in terms of the present and future of design culture and design artistry. To that end, the museum is equipped with a multipurpose display room and meeting suite that are rented out for events.
In addition, the museum stages design related exhibitions such as a design festival and production design show (both with a public call for participants).
Also, the museum holds various design-related exhibitions, such as the “Nichizu-Ten” with entrants from all over the country, while also staging events for local citizens, including The Art Exhibition of Kyoto Children and an ink rubbing show with entrants from all over the country.
