Home to music boxes from around the globe delivering “sounds that resonate with the heart”

Established in March 2023 by the Nagamori Culture Foundation, which was established as the operating body of this gallery to introduce the social values of music box culture and related technologies, this gallery delivers "sounds that resonate with the heart."
The gallery occupies part of the group's new headquarters "Nidec Park" and enables visitors to fully experience the charm of music boxes as they are guided through a number of rooms, starting with basic information about music boxes that they can acquire at the entrance, and then in the "World of Automata" zone, where visitors are soothed by the adorable gestures and well-thought-out performances executed by the mechanical dolls, meanwhile, in the "Types and History of Music Boxes" zone, visitors have their appetite for knowledge whetted when introduced to the constructions and sound-creating mechanisms. At the “Meister Workshop”, visitors get to see restoration work and R&D being carried out by dedicated technicians. Visitors then move on to the “Appreciation Lounge”, the highlight of the tour, where they can enjoy the sounds of a selected collection of music boxes, gramophones, and self-playing pianos in a concert format. In the last zone “Music Box Showcase”, visitors see an exhibition of collaborative works with traditional crafts artists in Kyoto and the latest music boxes manufactured in Japan, showing them that music boxes are not limited to the past, but are still part of advanced technology of today and tomorrow. In the “Multiuse Room”, workshops, such as making music boxes, are held. And dates for such events are posted on gallery’s website and SNS.
