In a western-façade building, which stands as the symbol of the Toei Kyoto Studio Park film studio, the 2nd floor of this museum is home to film archive materials, including the “Shozo Makino award corner” that looks back on the life of the “father” of Japanese cinema, Shozo Makino; the “movie hall of fame” that spotlights film people who, in particular, contributed in big ways to the development of the Japanese movie industry; the “photo world of Kyoto movie history” that explains movie history, especially from the Kyoto perspective; a poster corner; a miniature film studio, and filming equipment.
The 1st floor is home to an exhibition of movie posters, valuable dresses and personal effects of Hibari Misora, an eternal star in the eyes of the Japanese public, who entertained in a variety of genres, including song, film and stage.
