Opened with the aim of making research materials public in order to raise awareness about religious cultures, the regular exhibition of this university museum displays in rotation archaeological artifacts, such as armor and beads, unearthed from Sonobe Campus grounds of Bukkyo University as well as donated Buddhist images and folk materials.
At special or planned exhibitions in spring, autumn and winter, research results from studies conducted on specific religious culture themes are made public.
In additions, the religious culture theater, which is part of the museum, gives performances of Japanese folk arts (kamiraku, kyogen, Buddhist chanting) and lectures on tradition cultures as well as film showings three to five times a year to showcase festival rites, etc.
