- A chance to see valuable examples of needlework that are even rare in Europe
Beautiful European handwork collected under one roof
This needlework museum show a collection of European needlework, tools and reference materials from the 16th to 20th century, all collected by the founder Yuki Pallis over more than 40 years.
Apart from the permanent collection, the museum also stages spring and autumn special exhibitions as well as a Christmas show.
Visitors can see a wide range of items, including samplers, garments and house linens, from exquisitely minute pieces by specialist through to works by unknown women, even including the work of a five-year-old girl – in other words, a glimpse of the social background to all aspects of European needlework.
Downstairs, on the 1st floor, there is an antique shop dealing in wonderful old-and- modern arts, decorative arts and design product from East and West.
